• RR 5.x and RR 6.0 in the same network:
    You can use RR 5.x and RR 6.x in the same network.
    Even the server machine can be the the same.


  • Where to install RR 6.0:
    RR 5.x and RR 6.0 cannot be installed in the same location.

    If you have a seperate share for Royal Render 5.x. e.g. \\fileserver\RRender\,
    then you can either create a new \\fileserver\RRender6\ or create a subfolder inside RR 5.x \\fileserver\RRender\_RR6\.

    If you have a subfolder in a share \\fileserver\Share\RRender\, then create an other subfolder \\fileserver\Share\RRender6\


  • Install RR 6.0 on all 5.x clients:
    Create a batch file that starts the rrWorkstation_installer with commandline options.
    Load this batch file in the Submitter 5.x and create an execute job.


  • Shutdown 5.x:
    If you want to deinstall and all 5.x clients, then create a file \sub\cfg\deinstall.cfg
    If a client starts, then it deinstalls all plugins and services.
    Send a "restart clients" via Control.

    NOTE: This does only work with RR 5.7.40


  • Licensing:
    1. RR v6.0 requires a new license.
        After the installation, start rrConfig and generate & upload a License Request.

    2. If you already have a RR 5.x license, then support will send you the order link.
        If you have bought RR after March 2009, then the upgrade is for free and you will receive the new license file.
