How to Upgrade

Parent Previous Next

1. Install new license file

2. Upgrade RR files

IMPORTANT:

The upgrade is a replacement of the old installation. This means the network folder for the RR files does NOT change.

If you have named your RR network folder for example \RoyalRender_v7\, then you have two options:

    1. Keep the folder name even if it is RR8.
    2. Move the RR folder after the upgrade to \RoyalRender\. Please see this help page.

A) Default upgrade from RR 7.0.30 or later:

This update is executed like any other update of RR.

This works just like every other RR update.

You execute the updater and everything is updated and restarted.

It keeps:

    1. global config and client list
    2. jobs and history DB
    3. user cfg files (flipbook, submitter presets)
    4. "__inhouse" files
    5. unknown plugins and executables
    6. modified render config files
    7. modified setenv files
    8. modified submission plugins
    9. modified pre/post/finished scripts
    10. modified render pref files

B) Clean upgrade

Download the installer and choose "Re-install existing installation"

It is almost the same as an update, but removes/overwrites more files.

It keeps:

    1. global config and client list
    2. jobs and history DB
    3. user cfg files (flipbook, submitter presets)
    4. "__inhouse" files

3. Change files

There are a few files that you should change if you have upgraded RR.

Please see

4. Reinstall submission plugins

Please reinstall the submission plugins via rrWorkstationInstaller.

If your Workstations have the rrClient running, then you can create a client command job in rrControl (Menu client, command job, choose "(re-)Install Artist Workstation (rrSubmit Plugins, ...)" ).
